
"He is by far our expert of JCAPS", this is the statement about me, my manager has been saying to everybody in the organization from the day I joined the team at on-site. Though it makes me feel good but on the same time it puts an extra pressure on me. But this is one of the technique, good managers follow to manage people. It makes their job quite easier rather than keeping all pressure on themselves they offload it to their sub-ordinates. And that subordinate also feels good because he got some independence in his/her work, recognition in the organization & a motivation for working hard to become a real expert. And in this process s/he will work hard for not letting that person down who has shown so much confidence in her/him.
I am really impressed with this management technique which is not that much easy to follow as much it looks like. Any person who appreciates other's work or achievement, directly or indirectly acknowledges that he is not that good in the same work, & it may hurt his/her ego even if s/he knows that it was not their area of working. But a good manager knows how to make her/his people feel good, feel independent & feel strong.
Anybody who wants to follow this practice in his/her work should be capable enough to know when & where he should appreciate the work along with the person he is appreciating. In any case this should not come out just as an fake tactic. It should be with full confidence & sincerity. Only then it comes out as a win-win situation for all stake-holders.
So what are you waiting for..........Go & appreciate other's work, thank them for everything they are doing & put your confidence in them & then enjoy the fruit of his/ her hard work :-) ........but wait.... don't forget to work hard yourself in looking after that tree which is going to give you that well-sought fruit of success.
